Vonneta “Bonnie” J. Quinn, 91, of Wamego, KS, passed away Thursday, April 25, 2019 at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan, KS, after a brief illness.

  On January 21, 1928, Bonnie, was born in Stockdale (Riley Cty.), KS, to Ross William and Leona Elizabeth (Willis) Davenport in the home. She was united in marriage to William “Bill” Peter Quinn of St. George, KS, on May 10, 1948 at the Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Manhattan.  They made their home in St. George, KS, where they lived until Bill passed away on May 17, 1983 after 35 years of marriage. Bonnie was a homemaker raising their nine children.

  Bonnie later moved to Wamego where she joined the Widows to Widows group, spent time at the Senior Citizen Center where she enjoyed singing, and attended St. Bernard Catholic Church. Several years later she moved into Vintage Park Assisted Living where she was known as the ‘Hat Lady’.

  Some of her fondest memories were traveling to visit family in Illinois, Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Maine, Colorado, and more recent, a trip to Branson with her daughters.  Those trips led her to cross the Mississippi River and seeing the mountains for the first time.  She also enjoyed family camping excursions to Tuttle Creek Lake and often talked about her 90^th birthday party.  It was very important to Bonnie and Bill to raise their children to be good human beings.  She was proud to give birth to her children and seeing them through their many milestones.  Learning to drive at the age of 58 was another memorable moment.

  Being the youngest of 10 children, she was very proud of her five brothers who served in World War II, including Lloyd, who had a building named after him at K-State for his many years of service. The oldest, Everett, stayed state side during the war working for the Government selecting wood from the Oregon forests for warship construction. Her brother Leo didn’t return, deemed Missing in Action. Bonnie worked as a nurse’s aide during the war at Ft. Riley, and then Manhattan, before her nuptials.

  Bonnie is survived by 8 children: Karen Kathleen Collins, Cheri Colleen Ubel (Delbert), Judy Joann Jones (DeWayne), Michael Malloy Quinn (Jeanne), Cynthia Collette Chase (Dave), Carmel Candace Quinn, Angela Annette Bruce (Wayne), and William Warren Quinn; 30 grandchildren, Stephanie Schade, Jason Collins, Stacey Collins, Shauna Wells, Eric Cruthus, Christopher Ubel, Amy Havenstein, Megan Welfringer, Trina Toburen, Josh Jones, Molly Campbell, Jeremy Jones, Myriah Jones, Brianna Brown, Katy Streeter, Jesse Chase, Rob Chase, Quinlan Chase, Adam Chase, Collette Lowry, Marcus Waters, Amanda Slaughter, Anthony Ayon, Michael Bruce, Brittney Bruce, Makayla Livingston, Brady Quinn, Cameron Quinn, Kelsey Quinn, and Jimmy Waters; 53 great grandchildren, Cynthia, Alex, Rebecca, Lydia, Kaelyn, Kannon, Karter, Lilly, James, Emerald, Max, Sawyer, Hailey, Hope, Logan, Georgia, Tyler, Michaela, Kade, Karson, Karlie, Kambrie, Kash, Dylan, Jordynn, Jalen, Kynsley, Kansas, Mariah, Payton, Hunter, Lilian, Vivian, Ethan, Quinn, Melina, Nora, Roman, Jude, Caleb, Austin, Parker, Claire, Aliciea, Ariel, Ryan, Kashtyn, Braxton, Freya, and Ali; 1 great-great grandchild, Archer; one sister-in-law, Frances Quinn; and many nieces and nephews.

  She is also preceded in death by a son, James Jarae Quinn; her brothers, Everett Davenport (Laura), Gilbert Davenport (Elnora), Leo Davenport, Lloyd Davenport (Marilyn), Ross “Bill” Davenport (Norma), and Warren Davenport (Peggy); three sisters, Alberta DeVoe (Dick), Violet Oppenlander (Norman), and Ruby Threewitt (Melvern); three brother-in-laws, Tom Quinn, Jerry Quinn (Elsie), and Jack Quinn; and several nieces and nephews.

  Rosary will be held at 10:00 a.m. with a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 9, 2019 at the Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Manhattan, KS.  Fr. Kerry Ninemire will officiate.  Private inurnment will take place at a later date in the St. George Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials to Disabled Veterans, the Public Broadcast Service, and the Good Shepherd Hospice House, and may be left in care of Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego, PO Box 48, 66547.
