View Memorial Slideshow Warren Pollard Carnahan, son of Herbert H. and Bernice Axelton Carnahan, was born on January 17, 1934. He was one of four siblings including Quentin, Janice and Nancy. He was raised on the family farm and attended local schools. He graduated from Randolph High School and attended Kansas State University. Warren loved his family and shared many happy times with his friends and cousins growing up on Carnahan Creek. On August 3, 1954, Warren was united in marriage to Shirley McClelland at the United Presbyterian Church in Manhattan. Warren and Shirley were blessed with the birth of three children, Scott, Brian and Sheryl. Warren farmed with the family on the land that was homesteaded by his great-grandfather. After the construction of Tuttle Creek dam the family moved to the Wamego area where they continued to farm. Due to health problems, Warren reluctantly retired from farming and moved into Wamego in 2015. Warren was blessed in many ways, one of which was that he truly enjoyed farming. He loved all things outdoors and found great pleasure in attending Kansas State football and basketball games, especially the officiating! He enjoyed many travel adventures with Shirley and his family. He valued the partnership and love of the land that he shared with Shirley for over 60 years. He was extremely proud of his children and subsequently their spouses and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Warren was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Wamego where he served as an elder and on various committees. On Thursday, April 12, 2018, Warren passed away at Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan, Kansas, having reached the age of eighty-four years. Surviving members of his family include his loving and devoted wife, Shirley, of the home; his children, Scott (Jodi) Carnahan, Wamego, Brian (Karen) Carnahan, San Francisco and Sheryl (Brian) Wohler, Wamego; a sister, Nancy Latta; grandchildren, Jamie, Jennie and Quin (Genevieve) Parker and Zac Carnahan; Amanda (Matt) Elias, Alyssa Carnahan, Cara (Brandon) Lanterman; Reade, Sam and Claire Wohler; great-grandchildren, Eleanor and Margaret Elias and Adrienne Lanterman.
