Yolanda Jo Baker, 55, of Wamego, Kansas, died Sunday, June 13, 2021. She was a long-time resident of the community. Yo was born on September 5, 1965, in San Bernidino, California, the daughter of Wally and Sally Patrick Martwick. Her family moved often, following her father’s job and she attended several different schools. Yo graduated from high school in 1983 in Creston, Iowa. Yo married Kennyth Baker, Jr on May 13, 1994, in Wamego. He preceded her in death on June 29, 2009. Yo worked for fourteen years for McCall Pattern Company and then eleven years in the USD 320’s food service. In her earlier years, Yo enjoyed riding horses and fishing. She stayed very active in the summer months, visiting family and friends near and far. Yo did not like the cold winter months and kept busy with cross stitching, watching her favorite TV Shows and movies and talking with her people on the phone. Yolanda liked being around others and was considered a very dear friend by most everyone who met her. She never missed a birthday, anniversary, shower, sporting event or any other activity that involved her people, either by showing up, calling, texting, and always sending a card. Yo was one of a kind: always present, always doing for others, always ready for conversation and always up for a good laugh. Yo is survived by her son, Kolby Baker, her stepsons, Leslie Baker and Aaron Baker; her step-grandchildren, Luke, Logan, Hannah, Noah and Isaac; her brother Zack Martwick; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a son, Kalob Jo Baker. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am, Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at Campanella & Stewart Funeral Home. Pastor Tim Pearson will be officiating. Burial will follow at Wamego City Cemetery. Yo will lie-in-state on Tuesday, beginning at 3:00 pm and the family will greet friends from 6:00 pm until 8: 00 pm. They suggest memorial contributions to the Yolanda Baker Memorial Fund, to be determined later, and those may be sent in care of the funeral home.
