Staff members of Stewart Funeral Homes are caring and experienced professionals who understand that each family is unique and has personal requests and traditions. These requests and traditions, along with providing compassion and care to all families, are of utmost importance to our staff and funeral directors.
Rob and Diane were both born and raised in Montana where they lived until Rob decided to pursue his long-time desire to becoming a funeral director. He attended Kansas City Kansas Community College where he graduated with a Mortuary Science degree in 1996. He then worked for several years for a funeral home in Lawrence, Kansas, who, at the time, owned these three funeral homes. Rob and Diane moved to Wamego in 2001 to manage these funeral homes and then ultimately purchased them in 2004.
Rob is a Licensed Funeral Director, Embalmer and Certified Celebrant. He has been an active member of the communities since he moved here in 2001. He has served in some leadership capacity for many local non-profits including the Community Health Ministry, Wamego Public Library, Wamego Hospital Foundation, Lions Club, Colombian Theater, and Big Brothers / Big Sisters. He is also a member of the Wamego Chamber of Commerce, Westmoreland Chamber of Commerce and Alma Chamber of Commerce.
Diane Campanella worked for several years at Dick Edwards Ford and then as office manager at Double Check in Manhattan until she retired in January 2019. She does enjoy helping with visitations and services when she is able to do so.
Rob and Diane have two sons; David Campanella and his wife, Nicole, who live in Louisville, Kentucky, where David is also a Funeral Director and Embalmer, and Nick and his wife, Amanda, who live in Manhattan with their two daughters, Madeleine and Lydia.
The fourth generation of the Stewart family to own and operate the Stewart Funeral Home, he follows his great-grandfather, Jesse; his grandfather, Harold; and his father, Jess, in the funeral service. Bart is a licensed funeral director and mortician, along with being a licensed pre-need funeral planning counselor. Prior to returning home to operate the funeral home, Bart worked for 12 years in sales and management for Batesville Casket Company, primarily in the state of Missouri. Bart and his wife, Jenny, have three sons and are very active in the community and volunteering. He is a Past-President of Wamego Chamber of Commerce serving nine years on the Board of Directors,a member of City of Alma Chamber of Commerce and Westmoreland Chamber of Commerce,member of Wamego Lions Club, a past Board of Dir. of the Columbian Theatre, Board of Dir. of Pottawatomie County Economic Developement, on the Advisory Board of Directors of Valley Vista Good Samaritan Center of Wamego, and is currently serving on the board of directors of the Wamego Community Foundation. His goal is to provide the most professional, personalized and meaningful funeral celebrations for every family, with utmost compassion and care.
Jenny is the Co-Owner of the funeral home with her husband Bart. She is a graduate of the University of Kansas and Kansas State University, and is very active in the community. She is co-founder and president of Friends of the Park. She has served on the Site Councils at Central Elementary, West Elementary and Wamego Middle School along with various district committees and has been a high school mentor. Jenny is currently a math teacher for 7th and 8th graders at Wamego Middle School. She and Bart have three sons.
Randy is a fourth generation Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer. His Great Uncle Herman Kufahl started the Kufahl Funeral Home in Wheaton in 1903 as an extension of Kufahl Hardware. Randy's dad, Vernon Kufahl, continued to take care of the funeral home and the hardware store until his death in 2009, even though they no longer owned it. Rob officially changed the name to Campanella-Kufahl Funeral Home in 2015.
Randy is a graduate of Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business. He received his Associate Degree in Mortuary Sciences from Kansas City Kansas Community College. Randy was previously the Pottawatomie County Treasurer and spent 17 years in the banking industry. He is currently a licensed Realtor in the State of Kansas.
Randy lives with his wife, Kari, in Wheaton. He does continue to work with the funeral home assisting with families from the Wheaton, Onaga, and Westmoreland areas. He is very active in his church and community civic organizations.
A 3rd generation funeral director, Kyle followed in the footsteps of his paternal grandfather and grandmother, his father and his uncle.
Born in Carthage, Illinois, he grew up in Augusta, Illinois before moving to Quincy in 1978 when his family purchased and merged their funeral homes to become Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Homes.
Kyle graduated with Honors from St. Louis Community College Funeral Service Education Program in 1983 and joined his family business that same year. In 2019, he had the opportunity to sell the funeral home and he and his wife Bobbette moved to Kansas to be closer to children and grandchildren.
Kyle enjoys the time he spends with his family and the rounds of golf he can play in between.
Katie Anderson a licensed funeral director attended Des Moines Area Community College graduating with an Associate of Arts in Mortuary Science in 2020.
Born in Lawton, Oklahoma, and raised in the Manhattan, Kansas area she graduated from Riley County High School in 2008. After high school, she attended Bellus Academy for Cosmetology graduating in 2011. Her cosmetology career led her to her passion for funeral directing and serving families with compassion, she then joined Stewart Funeral Homes in 2015 as an Assistant Funeral Director returning in 2021 after graduation from the mortuary science program.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her two children, cooking and baking, and spending time outdoors.
Maria Ruiz, the newest addition at Campanella & Stewart Funeral Home, comes to us from Guatemala via California. She joined the U.S. Air Force in 2006 and relocated to windy Kansas in 2007 to serve at McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita. Her military career began as a photojournalist and concluded as a military police officer in 2020. The 14 years of military service reinforced her values of selflessness, integrity, perseverance, and empathy.
Maria discovered her civilian calling in the field of funeral service. Campanella & Stewart Funeral Home provided the opportunity for the California native to work as a student apprentice in 2023 while she pursued her Associate of Applied Science in Funeral Service degree from the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service. Graduating with honors in Pi Sigma Eta in March 2024, Maria began her apprenticeship as Assistant Funeral Director and Apprentice Embalmer in June 2024.
Currently residing in Wamego with her husband and two children, Maria enjoys working out at Flint Hills Fitness Center, riding her Honda VTX 1300 motorcycle alongside her husband, having fun with her family, listening to true crime podcasts, reading books, completing jigsaw puzzles, and playing board games with loved ones.
